Japanese camera maker Nikon Corp said on Monday it swung back to profit in the last business year and forecast a nearly eight-fold jump in profit for 2004/05 on robust sales of digital cameras and chip-making machines. Nikon said it expected group net profit to reach 19 billion yen ($168.8 million) in the year to March 2005 on sales of 700 billion yen.

Analysts expected Nikon to score a net profit of 16.8 billion yen and post revenues of 624.5 billion yen in 2004/05. Brisk sales of digital cameras are driving earnings higher at Nikon.
